Tottenham Hotspur's captain, Son Heung-min, has lodged a criminal complaint with the South Korean police regarding an alleged blackmail scheme that has come to light recently. The Gangnam Police Station in southern Seoul confirmed that a woman in her 20s and a man in his 40s have been detained on suspicions of extortion related to claims involving the football star.
According to reports, the ordeal began last year when the woman approached Son, asserting that she was pregnant with his child. In a subsequent effort to manipulate the situation, she reportedly demanded financial compensation in exchange for her silence. The alleged blackmail escalated in March when the man reportedly contacted Son, seeking further monetary concessions.
Son's agency, Son & Football Limited, has publicly declared that their client is a "clear victim" in this alarming matter. The agency emphasized that they would pursue stringent legal action against those who employed intimidation tactics based on spurious allegations. As the investigation unfolds, Tottenham and Son are relying on the police to provide clarity and resolution to this distressing incident.
Currently, the South Korean forward is gearing up for the Europa League final against Manchester United, set to take place in Bilbao on Wednesday. Son has been a pivotal player for Spurs since joining from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015, scoring an impressive 173 goals in 451 games. The situation remains fluid, and further updates will follow as the investigation progresses.
