In a shocking incident, three individuals have lost their lives, and one other is critically injured following a shooting in Lake Cargelligo, a small town in New South Wales, Australia. The police received an emergency call reporting gunfire in a residential area around 4:40 PM local time.

According to NSW police, a man and a woman were found dead inside a vehicle, while another woman was killed in a separate shooting shortly thereafter. Another man is currently hospitalized in serious condition.

The authorities have not disclosed the relationship between the suspect and the victims, who are believed to be involved in a domestic violence situation. Assistant Commissioner Andrew Holland emphasized the gravity of the situation, urging residents to remain indoors as multiple crime scenes have been established.

Any death in a small country town is confronting, said Holland, adding that the horrific scene faced by emergency responders was distressing. Lake Cargelligo, situated in the heart of New South Wales, has a close-knit community of about 1,500 residents.

This incident follows a recent bout of violence in Australia, notably a mass shooting last month in Bondi Beach that resulted in 15 fatalities. The recurring theme of gun violence has reignited calls for reform and preventive measures within the nation.
