TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) – Vice President JD Vance addressed supporters in Toledo, attributing unrest around the recent immigration enforcement campaign to the actions of 'far-left' groups. He stated, 'If you want to turn down the chaos in Minneapolis, stop fighting immigration enforcement and accept that we have to have a border in this country.' Vance is slated to meet with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in Minneapolis after a protest that erupted following the fatal shooting of protestor Renee Good during a recent confrontation with authorities.
Vance described the chaos and outrage as consequences of actions taken by protesters who disrupted a church service in Minnesota, demanding justice for Good, and expressed his support for the arrests made during that incident. He condemned their actions, stating, 'They’re scaring little kids who are there to worship God on a Sunday morning,' and vowed that 'those people are going to be sent to prison so long as we have the power to do so.'
He defended the law enforcement agent involved in the shooting, calling Good's death 'a tragedy of her own making' and reiterated that the right to protest does not supersede the right of citizens to practice their faith freely.
Vance's visit follows President Trump’s recent address at the World Economic Forum, aiming to bolster the administration's message on the economy while promoting key candidates in upcoming elections. He urged voters to remain patient regarding economic recovery, stating, 'You don’t turn the Titanic around overnight; it takes time to fix what is broken.'
