MINNEAPOLIS (Deep Roots News) — U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi announced nine arrests in connection to a protest that disrupted a church service at the Cities Church in St. Paul, where immigration policies were a focal point of contention.

The group of protestors was charged with federal civil rights violations after chanting 'ICE out' and 'Justice for Renee Good,' referencing a mother killed by an ICE officer. Among those arrested were journalists Don Lemon and Georgia Fort, and activist Nekima Levy Armstrong.

Bondi disclosed on social media that the most recent arrests included Ian Davis Austin and Jerome Deangelo Richardson, although she did not provide further details on their apprehensions.

The case began after the protestors interrupted the church service, questioning Pastor David Easterwood—an ICE field office leader—regarding Christian nationalism. The church, a part of the Southern Baptist Convention, became the epicenter of a larger discourse on immigration enforcement and civil rights.

The arrests have raised considerable outcry, with supporters claiming that the protesting individuals were simply exercising their First Amendment rights, whereas critics see it as undermining religious observance. This case highlights the intersection of faith, civil rights, and immigration, prompting discussions that resonate deeply within affected communities.
