A passenger plane has crashed in northern Colombia, killing all 15 people on board, the country's state-run airline Satena confirmed. The airline's statement indicated that the aircraft, a Beechcraft 1900, suffered a fatal accident, but no further details were provided. The wreckage has since been located in a mountainous area. The passenger list includes notable individuals such as lawmaker Diógenes Quintero Amaya and Carlos Salcedo, a candidate in the upcoming congressional elections. Contact with the plane was lost just 11 minutes before its scheduled landing in Ocaña, near the Venezuelan border, at 12:05 local time. Flight NSE 8849 had taken off from the city of Cúcuta, located about 100 kilometers northeast of Ocaña, carrying 13 passengers and two crew members. A search operation has been launched in the mountainous region, and a hotline has been established for the families of those who were on the plane. So far, governor of Norte de Santander William Villamizar has stated that seven bodies have been recovered. The search efforts include support from Colombia's armed forces in an area known to be controlled by the ELN guerrilla group. President Gustavo Petro extended his condolences to the victims' families, expressing deep sorrow over the losses. A statement from Quintero's Facebook page described him as someone who dedicated his life to serving those in need, and he was one of the few parliamentary representatives for victims of Colombia's long-standing conflict.
